Centre Director - Learning Tree
Lynne is a seasoned educational professional with 27 years in Primary Education through to Deputy Principal level and entered ECE in 2008. Lynne is the Centre Director for all Learning Tree Centres.
Lynne set up and managed Lollipops state of the art Highbrook Centre with 150 children, and also established their centre at Half Moon Bay with 100 children before coming to Albany to start the first Learning Tree Childcare centre at the beginning of 2012.
"My profession has always been in Education. I am very passionate about learning and providing children with experiences that will teach them skills in order to become competent, life long learners. I truly believe that children need to be respected and cared for with the same degree of respect that ideally we would give to adults. Hence, I have a passion for the RIE, Reggio and Pikler philosophy and feel that providing quality care and nurture for young children is extremely important. As an educator, I am committed to empowering and supporting children and their families in the transition to school process. I believe children need to experience new challenges, co-operative ventures and have the opportunity to be part of longer term projects.
I now have the fantastic role of leading an amazing team across our 5 Learning Tree sites".
Centre Manager - Apollo Drive
Hello, Kia ora and Nihao. My name is Maya Tan and I am the Centre Manager at Learning Tree Apollo Drive. I came from China in 2000 and now I call this beautiful country home. I am a qualified and fully certified teacher who also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. I am an Oceania Championship Silver Medallist in Sport Pistol Shooting and very proud to be part of the New Zealand High Performance Team in 2013. I am also a proud mum to two intelligent boys who attend my childcare.
I have been in this Early Childhood Education profession for over 13 years and I still enjoy every single moment of it. For me, this is not only a job, it is also a passion, responsibility and trust. I joined Learning Tree group at the beginning of 2013 as a preschool teacher and had the greatest privilege to be the Centre Manager when Apollo was opened. So, Learning Tree Apollo Drive is like my baby. My role may have changed over my teaching career in the classroom, my passion for providing and motoring excellence in education has never changed. I would also make sure the quality of care is satisfied from a mother’s perspective. It excites me to work with a group of dedicated teachers who are committed to this great responsibility and trust from the families.
I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, RIE and Pikler philosophy. I have always seen myself as a facilitator who is working and exploring alongside the children to support them to become competent and confident individuals. As the shift of my role I am now as the facilitator who is working and exploring alongside the teachers to support them to provide the excellence learning environment and education that our next generation deserves.
